We are bringing a fryer\cooker to LDRS for a little cooking after the range closes. I don't know if yall recall how us Texans do it but as soon as the range closes I am going to be cook'n up some vittles. We are going to have two or three Turkey breast in a brine for a couple days and then frying them on the range. The next day I am going to use the pot for a BIG ole pot of Texas Chili (that means no beans and a real good bite.)

However, I really don't want to drive from Texas to New York with a propane tank in the trunk of the car. If someone from up there has a tank we can use I would make sure it was filled when we give it back at the end of LDRS. I really don't want to have to buy one up there either just to not bring it back home.

Anyone out there ready to help a fella out?

I wish, but unfortunately for you, I only cook with charcoal.

Come on guys/gals..... someones gotta be able to help him out. It's not like you're gonna be home grilling and at the field at the same time.

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing the look on a soccer moms face when you teach her kids how to turn a paper plate into a rocket ship!!

Actually, the Texas way is to cook up a ton of food and share it with everyone there. We will have an open pot of chili and anyone can have some until it's gone. We will also have some Frito's so folks can have some Frito Pies... If anyone else wants to bring stuff to toss on the grill and share then the more the merrier!

Actually, we are not in a normal spot at all. We are in vendor spot V18. It the first spot next to the food vendors and right behind where the RSO table will be. I think we are going to have a ton of room and might even have some of the tables and chairs from the food vendors to use after they close for the night. :-)

WHAT??? You have never had a Frito Pie? I guess there is no way you could be from Texas... Or the south... A Frito Pie starts out with a bowl of Frito corn chips, some chili, and then cheese. You then wolf it down with a spoon and a beer.

To be honest, I was bred, born and raised here in New Yoak, but that sounds like a great meal. I may have to join you one evening. Would you mind if I brought some of my rocket chili too?

Don't even talk about having to borrow money. I am a photographer full time and besides Tim Sapp Photography (TSP) I have been shooting for a newspaper in four markets (four cities). Today, two hours into our vacation (130 miles away from home) I was called by the publisher of the papers and told that my job had been eliminated in the Chapter 11 Reorg. They also chose that time to tell me that not only had I lost my job but they would not be paying for my earned vacation time. So, even though I have over one week of vacation time banked I don't get any of it.

I hope that the weather at LDRS holds out since TSP is now my only source of income. Not a huge panic just yet as I have a few options in the area we live in. We had to cut the last half of our trip short though. After LDRS we were going to be heading to NYC for two days, then DC for two days, and then finally Bowling Green, KY for the Corvette museum. All of that has been dropped... Something about spending $500.00 in motels and who knows what for sight seeing when I have to head home and start making money from my event and portrait photography.

But, we are not going to let us down or bum us out... We LOVE being at LDRS and except for the one in Canada we have been to the last 5 or 6. Even my parents are driving up from Oklahoma City because they really enjoy the launches as well. Not only that, but my dad is going to be shooting for me as a second gun as well. I look forward to not only the flights but the hanging out after the launch as well.

We are heading over to Columbus, Oh for a few days to hang out with my wife's family. We will be in the Canandaigua, NY on Tuesday were we at least will be able to visit Niagara Falls for the day before LDRS. At least we get to do some sight seeing in this trip....

If you are going to see anything while you are up here, Niagra Falls is great choice. There is a lot to do up there and the views are excellent, especially from the Canadian side. If you cross the border make sure you have a passport. There are a lot of local attractions near LDRS too. The Finger Lakes region has some picturesque scenes, great views, and a crapload of wineries. The "Ring Of Fire" on Canandiagua Lake around the 4th is really spectacular too. Even though Potter is "way out there", it is still close enough to be able to see and do a lot after the range closes.

The ring of fire is around Conisous Lake, on the evening of the fourth of July, and they are a bunch of crazy fools.
