Thank you Mike and thanks to all of the fliers that came and conquered the muck and the mire of the first two days. It was the fliers and their projects that made LDRS 28 the success it was, despite the early curve ball Mother Nature threw at us.

We of PYRO would like to thank all who made this event happen from the LDRS 28 planning committee to all of the other Host Clubs, MDRA, METRA, and Tripoli Central VA, to all of flyers who came, to all who worked thier butts off to keep things running smoothly from the Farmers getting people out onto the field and back to thier cars, to the LCO's & pad managers for getting rockets into the air, and to Mike and his Chia Jeep for helping retrieve lost rockets.

Thanks to All of you for making this great event happen.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to sleep for the next week.

I would like to thank all the people that put LDRS 28 on. It was very well planned out and ran very smooth. The mud just made it a little more interesting. Also thanks to the crew that helped bring my Mercury Redstone and Saturn V out to the pad.

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing the look on a soccer moms face when you teach her kids how to turn a paper plate into a rocket ship!!

I would also like to add how much I appreciate the hard work that went into making my first LDRS a success! As bad as it started, it ended up with some fantastic flights. It was a great feeling to leave New York with a L3. Thanks a million! Hope to see LDRS on this field again. The west coast is too far for many of it to attend.

From everyone at the Jackson Model Rocket Club we would like to give a big 'Congratulations' for a great launch and a well planned event. Also a 'Thank You' for the help in getting our club project into the air. For anyone that's interested here is a link to some video of the flight of 'Too Big To Fail'. link

Ditto the above comments - a great job of putting on a great launch.

While the Thursday mudbog was certainly challenging, everyone did a wonderful job of making the best of a bad situation. A special round of thanks to the guys (Torrie Farms farmers?) that spent a good part of Thursday towing all the stuck cars out of the muck, including pulling my rental SUV about 100 yds Thursday evening so I could get back to the hotel. Apparently specifying that you want an SUV when you reserve a rental is no guarantee that it'll have AWD or 4WD (mine was front wheel drive and didn't stand a chance in that muck).

But it was fun doing a Level 2 Cert with a Saturn V, even it I almost didn't get it back (I'm still somewhat amazed that I actually found the top part - near the top of that hill East of the range).

I cannot even begin to imagine the countless hours that went into preparing for this event. What is certain is that this was a fun event for me, Pam, Terry & Alex (aka the rocket boyz). This was our first LDRS of many to come in the future. We love the Finger Lakes Region, in fact we did not get home until late Friday night. I made my rounds to the vinyards and have a good supply again.

Thanks to everyone. When you do this again, prepare a commemorative rocket, get all volunteer signatures and auction it off. It would be a sure hit!

Now I will start removing all of the mud! It is always special to bring back little keepsakes from a great trip.

This was my first big launch, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself! However, I had a Cesaroni 3 grain case go missing. Anybody find one? I've checked with the PYRO group, and no one has turned it in. My spot was near Vendor Row at C39, but for all I know I dropped it on the hayride Friday morning. Thanks for any info.

Eldred and all,

Our next two launches on that field are August 1st & 2nd, and then our 4th annual Family Picnic Launch on August 29th & 30th. All of our Saturdays are research days and The Family picnic is on Sunday the 30th and it is a bring a dish to pass event that all fly for free on.

As far as anything that may be lost, everytime I check in with Rick the farmer, if he has anything rocketry related brought in, he gives it to me to get back to it's owner. All the farmers around the field tend to bring anything they find to him and he gives it to me. So I will keep all posted via our PYRO website if anything comes in. www.pyro.ws

What I'll remember about my first LDRS is an outstanding event brought about by outstanding, selfless people. Cool Not even a poor first few days dims that.

Mike D: Unfortunately, I returned home minus one lost rocket: a 3" diam. all fiberglass project, 3FNC. Sapphire blue booster section and gray upper section with unpainted white nose cone. Red main chute. Perfectflite electronics. It's likely tucked in between 2 rows of potatoes towards the right side from the LCO looking downrange. I'll keep checking PYRO's website; thanks for offering to post found rockets.
