The width seems a little small. Some vehicles are wider and even my Quickshade is 10x10.
That would not allow room to rope it down on the sides. Just a comment not really a question.

The 10' width and the 50' deepth will provide plenty of room...no need to rope anything off. We are suggesting that clubs, groups of fliers and just plain friends register together and that will give groups more than enough space if you pick your spots side by side. If you don't know anyone when you start the event, you will have lots of new friends by the end.

For those worrying about the 10' width of the parking slots. Before I laid the whole field out I went around to several parking lots and measured the slots your given there.
95% of those lots gave a single slot 10' X 20' for each car, and this gave all of the cars room to get out of your car and walk around it. But for those of you who still want more room than that you can do as Neil suggested and register as a group of just pay $55 for an adjacent slot.

Thanks,

Mike,

Good analogy about checking out a parking lot, but remember, some people DO NOT know how to park in a parking lot, and they take up more than one spot. Suggestion... go to Home Depot and buy a marking tool that holds cans of marking paint, and paint the lines on the grass. With fliers paying $55 for a spot, everyone is going to make sure they get the 10' they paid for. All it takes is someone coming in and taking up more than their area, and there is going to be problems. Lets not allow that to happen. I bought 3 spots so I know I will have enough room. I think the price and the way this is being transacted is excellent!! Great work LDRS 28 committee!!! But I see a potential problem if the land is not surveyed.

Sincerely,

Dan Michael

Dan,

Marking the field is well in the plans, but this is a hay field and we don't want to cover it with paint. We do how ever plan to rent a marking unit to spread caulk lines in like on a football field then it will wash away once it rains.

Mike,

Great idea! I did think of that... but if I was the guy doing the marking, it would rain all my work away BEFORE anyone got there!!!

Actually my original question was not about roping an area off. My sun shades will blow off the
map if not tied down. At LDRS this last year the wind was so great that all corners had to be
roped and staked down to prevent the shade from blowing into the next state.

Mike, they sell biodegradable marking spray paint in yellow and orange. Its very chalky and It also washes away.

Thanks Ed, I'll check into that, where did you see it the last time you saw it?

My son's school uses a form of chalk that also serves as a fertilizer. I'll look into that for you, if you wish. I think it would be right neighborly of us to leave the field in better condition than we found it.

We have already looked into using the lime stripers like what is used in some sports fields. The farmer is also OK with us using this as well. This is also a whole lot cheaper than the vegetable dye spray paints.

Thanks for all of your suggestions,

William,

Best way to tie down sun shades is bungie wrap them, leg to leg, to the other flyers sunshades on both sides of you. We do this at BALLS and 25 MPH plus winds do not budge them. We also remove the shades at night, in case of night winds, if we are leaving site.
