I have a few more rockets that were found by the farmer during the harvest. One is in perfect condition and ready to fly (~5.5' and green). A second needs a payload section (Stars and stripes ~1'). A couple nose cones were found, a small parachute, and one complete silver rocket that seems to have an Aerotech SU motor, but was driven over by a tractor so only the chute and cone survived. If anyone is missing a rocket fitting any of those descriptions, please contact me. I can be PM'd here or through via the webmaster at www.pyro.ws.

It was the third wave of rain that day.

Glad to hear that you guys are thinking about hosting LDRS again. Having it on the east coast was still a long drive, but nowhere as far as the western launch sites would be. You guys did a great job of making everyone feel welcome and we had a great time. I hope to make the trek again sometime.

The only thing I could ask is to do without the rain next time!

If you lost anything, and I do mean anything, please contact Mike Dutch or I. You can reach us by sending us a Private message here, posting in this thread, or via the PYRO site as many of you have done already.

Things returned:

Whole, rockets ranging from several feet and dual-deploy to sharipe size on a 1/4A.
Partial rockets
Parachutes
Fins
Boosters
Transponders
Altimeters
Glasses (sun and perscription)
and a whole slew of other parts.

I have photos available of our current Lost and Found. To ease the proces give us the best decription you can and we'll send you a picture of the closest match if there is one. :-) If there isn't we'll log your missing 'whatever' and keep an eye out for it in the future. As Dutch stated elsewhere, the local farmers and residents are always bringing stuff to return to us.

The PYRO Site
edited by mpyusko on 7/23/2009

What I'll remember about my first LDRS is an outstanding event brought about by outstanding, selfless people. Not even a poor first few days dims that.

Mike D: Unfortunately, I returned home minus one lost rocket: a 3" diam. all fiberglass project, 3FNC. Sapphire blue booster section and gray upper section with unpainted white nose cone. Red main chute. Perfectflite electronics. It's likely tucked in between 2 rows of potatoes towards the right side from the LCO looking downrange. I'll keep checking PYRO's website; thanks for offering to post found rockets.

-- Alex Deschenes
TRA L2 #9985

Hi everybody-
LDRS 28 was a great launch that I will remember for a long time to come. My wife managed to get some truly outstanding shots of the big 7 way drag race on Sunday. She is a professional photographer who came to take pictures of my big launch, and also photographed the drag race for fun.

She captured two really nice shots - one of lift-off and one in mid flight that shows ALL seven rockets. Here is a url to view them: www.true-lifephotography.com/proofs/dragrace The lift-off is shown with and without text at two different print sizes - either 5x7 or large panoramic 10x20. The mid flight shot is a 5x7 print only. If anyone is interested in buying a copy, please feel free to reply to this or send a personal message through the forum.

Eldred and all,

Our next two launches on that field are August 1st & 2nd, and then our 4th annual Family Picnic Launch on August 29th & 30th. All of our Saturdays are research days and The Family picnic is on Sunday the 30th and it is a bring a dish to pass event that all fly for free on.

As far as anything that may be lost, everytime I check in with Rick the farmer, if he has anything rocketry related brought in, he gives it to me to get back to it's owner. All the farmers around the field tend to bring anything they find to him and he gives it to me. So I will keep all posted via our PYRO website if anything comes in. www.pyro.ws

This was my first big launch, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself! However, I had a Cesaroni 3 grain case go missing. Anybody find one? I've checked with the PYRO group, and no one has turned it in. My spot was near Vendor Row at C39, but for all I know I dropped it on the hayride Friday morning. Thanks for any info.

Eldred Pickett - waiting for the next LDRS close enough to attend...

I cannot even begin to imagine the countless hours that went into preparing for this event. What is certain is that this was a fun event for me, Pam, Terry & Alex (aka the rocket boyz). This was our first LDRS of many to come in the future. We love the Finger Lakes Region, in fact we did not get home until late Friday night. I made my rounds to the vinyards and have a good supply again.

Thanks to everyone. When you do this again, prepare a commemorative rocket, get all volunteer signatures and auction it off. It would be a sure hit!

Now I will start removing all of the mud! It is always special to bring back little keepsakes from a great trip.

The Clunes, Digger, Dutch, Neil, Bob You Totally Rock!

Next Stop.....Argonia for Airfest

Steve
