Registration FAQ

"How do I register to Fly?"
First, you must sign-up for web-site access. This will allow you to submit your project information, volunteer for range duty and access the flier registration system.

Next, on the registration page, click the large button near the top of the page that says "Register to fly at LDRS 28". Verify your address; fill out your Tripoli, NAR and/or CAR membership info; indicate how many banquet tickets you'd like; reserve your tee-shirts and then press the "Add Registration Info" button at the bottom of the form.

Finally, now that you're back on the main registration page, click the "Pay by Credit Card or PayPal" button to submit your payment.
"How much is registration?"
The event fee for a flier is $55.00 USD. This includes a reserved space on the flight line and the right to fly on all 5 days provided you meet the TRA Research launch rules. Tickets for the Saturday night Banquet are $40.00 USD each. Official LDRS 28 Tee-shirts are $20.00 USD each. You may also purchase extra parking spaces on the flight line for $55.00 USD each.
"Will I be able to register at the field?"
Yes. However, we strongly recommend that you pre-register. At the field, Tee-shirt selection will be limited, Banquet tickets will be scarce (an possibily more expensive), and the best parking spots will have been reserved. Plus, it's easier on everyone if all the paperwork and money transfers are done ahead of time.
"Why do I have to sign-up for the web site first?"
Registering to attend the event, accessing the Forums, submitting your project information, and/or volunteering for range duty all require some contact information from you; email address, phone number, etc. We require you to sign-up so that we can store this personal information. Also, by having any information gathering web pages accessible only to those who have signed-in, we can dramatically reduce the misuse of the web site by Spammers and their ilk. Please note that your personal information is kept in strict confidence. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.
"I've heard you can select a parking space on the flight line. Where do I do this?"
Yes, the parking along the flight line is reserved; Fliers may choose their spot much like selecting seats on an airline flight. But, like an airline flight you must buy your ticket first. Once you have registered and paid for at least one flier you will be able to access the parking reservation page. Also, please read the next question/answer concerning payment delays.
"I've filled out my registration information and have been to PayPal to make my payment but I still don't see where to access the Parking reservations."
Next to each item on your registration form it will also say "Pending". This indicates that you used an e-check transfer at PayPal. These work similar to a regular paper check in that they take from 3 to 5 days to clear. Once PayPal informs the registration system that the funds have cleared, your registration form items will show "Paid" and you will then be able to access the Parking reservation pages.

Please note also that if you choose to mail in your check or credit card payment there will be a similar delay before you will be able to access the parking reservation pages.
"I have friends and family that are coming and are planning on flying. Do we all have to register separately?"
No, you can register as a group and pay for it all in one go. After you have entered your personal registration information, and before you pay, simply click the "Additional Fliers..." button for each member of your group. Remember: each additional flier is also entitled to a reserved parking spot of their own. So, you should have plenty of room to spread out!
"I have a large project and it's just going to be me registering to fly. Can I get more space on the flight line?"
Yes. After you have entered your personal registration information, and before you pay, simply click the "Additional Parking..." button. Each extra space is $55.00 USD.
"Are kids allowed to fly?"    "What is the registration fee for kids?"
Yes, children under 18 are welcome to fly "A" through "G" impulse. There is no charge when they are accompanied by an adult flier over 18.  NAR Junior L-1's will have to pay the standard flight fee if they want to launch High Power ("H" or "I" impulse)
"I would like to use a credit card but I don't have a PayPal account."
You do not need to have or open a PayPal account in order to pay by credit card. When you are ready to pay, click the "Pay by Credit Card or PayPal" button. Click the "Don't have a PayPal Account" link in the left-center of the first PayPal page. [See an image here]

You can also mail in your credit card information. To the left of the "PayPal" button is a link to a page where you may print-out your registration form; fill in all the credit card and billing information and mail it to the address displayed on that form.

Please note:  If you mail in your credit card information, the charge will appear on your monthly statement as "Excel Srvs". It will not say anything about LDRS.
"If I register now and then my plans change will I be able to get a refund?"
There is 10% cancellation fee for reservations that are canceled before April 2, 2009. This applies to Flier Registration fees, Extra Parking Space fees, Banquet Tickets, and LDRS 28 Tee-shirts. Note that on and after April 2, 2009 we will not be able to issue refunds. You may contact the LDRS 28 registrar if you need to cancel all or part of your registration.
